Welcome to the Sorrento Peninsula & the Amalfi Coast
The Amalfi Coast is one of the most splendidly beautiful--and historically significant--areas in Italy. The area is comprised of the southern coast of the Sorrentine Peninsula, south of Naples and part of the province of Salerno. In the northern coast we find the town of Sorrento, from which the Peninsula derives its name, and along the southern coast one will find the region's main towns of Positano, Atrani, and Amalfi. The island of Capri, located nearby in the Bay of Naples, is also considered part of the Amalfi Coast.
The town of Sorrento has been a popular resort since Roman Times and is perched above the sea. It boasts a picturesque bay and the distant views of the Isle of Capri tantalize.
Fall under the spell of the enchanting Amalfi coast where the most beautiful coastline in world offers incredible views throughout its course.
Enjoy a feast hosted by your Tour Captain to kick off the journey with our included welcome dinner.
About the QueensLander® Way of Dining
Our approach to dining is truly unique: Our favorites dishes represent the region we're traveling through. We call this, parla come mangia or 'speak the language of your food.' From our unique, off-the-beaten-path restaurants we visit for each included dinner to the variety of hand-crafted dishes, it's truly an immersion into authentic Italian food and wine. No buffets here. Your Tour Captain is there to make sure your dining experience goes smoothly and will help you interpret any menu item. Your Tour Captain will select a variety of appetizers, featuring regional cuisine, and will select your vino from the estate ~ a variety of red and white wine from the best regions of Italy ~ and yes, "the wine flows." It's an intentionally slow evening of delight so you can savor the experience.
Our hotel on the coast is very important! It must boast gorgeous views and be away from the hustle and bustle of Sorrento!

PUNTA DELLA CAMPENELLA
Today's Walks on the Amalfi Coast: The link between the Sorrento Peninsula and the Amalfi Coast, the Punta Campanella, provides perspective like no other. As the point where the Monti Latteri starts to slope down toward the sea, a land of myth and legend surfaces on this narrow strip of land as if yearning to be reunited with the Isle of Capri.
Character of the Morning Walk: Hiking the Punta della Campenella: About 2.5 Miles with a walk-rating of Easy.
After breakfast (included daily), we transfer to the small village of Massa Lubrense to begin our walk on the Punta Della Campenella.
This easy route, passing over relatively flat terrain, has the sea to one side and small gardens and olive groves on the other. The path splits into two at one point with the higher taking you along the ridge of the Monte San Costanzo, and the lower path along the flat tongue of land which is the Punta Campanella to the Saracen Tower and the ruins of the Minerva Sanctuary.
A strip of land steeped in history and legend, Punta Campanella, according to Odysseus it was here that Ulysses met the Sirens and the region has never been the same! The Greeks built a temple in honor of Athens here as well and the structure was later converted into a Sanctuary devoted to Minerva by the Romans. In the 14th century a watch tower was built on the promontory to guard against Saracen attacks from the sea. Outstanding walk today.
We return to Sorrento by vehicle.

THE PATH OF THE GODS
Today's Walk on the Amalfi Coast: We take one of the “high” routes of the Amalfi Coast moving from Agerola to Positano. This is by far one of the most famous hikes you can do as it is known for its constant ups and downs, awesome sheer vertical drops, and its cultivated levels or terraces of land. Beauty.
Character of the Walk: Transfer to Agerolo on the Amalfi Coast and begin the Paths of Gods' hike. About 4.5 Miles with a walk-rating of Moderate to Difficult.
The hike climaxes at with a perspective highlighting the west where we see siren archipelagos and stunning, swirling shapes of the mediterranean.
The hike concludes as we arrive the stunning village of Positano, our home for the next two evenings.
WELCOME TO POSITANO
Stroll around the narrow alleys of Positano which enjoys an unsurpassed position along the Amalfi coast where delightful white and pastel-colored houses litter the hillside. Along with the beautiful beaches, its ancient fishing port, the splendid majolica dome of the church of Santa Maria Assunta and artisan shops you'll enjoy a taste of the “Dolce Vita.”

CONCA DEI MARINI DI PARIA
Today's Walk on the Amalfi Coast: Starting from the road in front of the San Michele Church in Conca dei Marini, you will find the chapel of Our Lady of Tears. This begins the trail of the Mad Bats. (As the name suggests, the ravines are home to several of the flying mammals).
Character of the Walk: San Michele Church to Praia Marina. 3 Miles with a walk-rating of Easy.
The first path, to the right, leads to an old mill. Then you will pass a water mill which was the driving force of the paper mill machinery that once characterized the fjord. Also of note is the village located on the beach where you will admire the restored monazenni or fishermen’s warehouses that were used to house tools. A small rural church, another fascinating old mill and the lime kiln round out the experience.
Now appreciated more for their beauty the fjords once served as protection against foreign attackers. This particular fjord was used in Roberto Rossellini’s film The Miracle. The acclaimed director even bought a restored monazzeno and used it as a "love nest" while he was dating Anna Magnani during the 1940s.
The second path, the Fox-Fish trail, begins at the beach and boasts numerous vista points of the Praiano and the Gulf of Salerno. At the top of the stairs there is the church Sant-Elia which was built in the 13th century. It features a fresco triptych depicting the Virgin, Sant-Elijah and St. Bartholomew.
Our third path, Agave in Bloom, takes us to the walk of love. Continue on the trail until you come across the first houses of Praiano. We end today's trek at the Praia Marina.

Our path takes us to several with an occasional opportunity for a splash in the sea.

This is the largest and best conserved of the twelve villas which Tiberius had built following his decision to retire from political life and retire
